The national football association of Ecuador revealed on Saturday that Felix Sanchez, a Spaniard and former coach of Qatar, will take over the team.

The Argentine Gustavo Alfaro, 60, who left after Ecuador was eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar in the group stage, is replaced by Sanchez, 47.
The Tricolor won just one game, 2-0 over Qatar's hosts, and placed third in Group A under Sanchez's leadership at the time.
At age 21, Sanchez began his career as a coach with the Barcelona youth program. Prior to leading the national squad in 2017, he relocated to the Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2006 and coached national age group teams there.
On March 24 and 28, he will lead Ecuador in two friendlies against Australia in Sydney and Melbourne.
