Usyk's promoter Alexander Krassyuk informed the press that negotiations to produce the undisputed heavyweight title match fell through.

Usyk will now try to defend his heavyweight championships against Daniel Dubois, a WBA-mandated challenger.

The Fury vs Usyk fight would have been one of the most significant contests in world boxing.

Between them they hold all four of the major heavyweight world titles.

When he sensationally defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, Fury first became a unified world champion. He never lost those championships in the ring, but they became vacant when he stopped boxing for more than two years.

In 2018, he made an impressive comeback and controversially drew with Deontay Wilder. After defeating Wilder in a rematch to claim the WBC belt, Fury triumphed once again in a thrilling trilogy bout in 2021.

Undefeated he's held the WBC belt ever since and last year Fury headlined two stadium fights in London, stopping both Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora to defend his title.

Oleksandr Usyk, a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, has established himself as Fury's closest rival at the top of the heavyweight division.

As a heavyweight, he beat Anthony Joshua in 2021 to capture the IBF, WBO, and WBA belts.

In August of last year, the Ukrainian successfully defended those belts by defeating Joshua once more.

Usyk has become a renowned global figure, returning to his Ukrainian homeland when Russia invaded in February of last year and continuing to represent his country on a global stage when he resumed his boxing career.

Fury and Usyk squared off in the ring after Fury defeated Chisora in his previous bout, and their teams have been in-depth negotiations.

Usyk agreed to a 70/30 split after Fury publicly requested it, but only if Fury agreed to provide a sizable sum of money to the Ukrainian rescue effort.

But, the two parties were unable to reach an agreement, and Usyk's promoter said on Wednesday that negotiations had ultimately broken down.

Once he has fully recovered from the injuries he suffered when defeating Kevin Lerena in his previous fight, British fighter Daniel Dubois is in a good position to face Usyk.

Usyk must begin talks with Dubois to defend his WBA championship if he can't present written contracts for the Fury bout by April 1st. Dubois is the mandatory challenger for Usyk's WBA title, and the WBA has already made that clear.
