Supporters criticize the Flying Eagles following their U-20 AFCON semi-final loss

Following their sluggish performance against The Gambia in Monday's U-20 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal match at the Cairo Stadium, Egypt, football-loving Nigerians have criticized the Flying Eagles, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

In seven minutes, Adama Bojang scored the game-winning goal for the Junior Scorpions after sprinting onto an offense-splitting ball from Ebrima Singhateh.

Ladan Bosso's squad had the most of possession despite being down by the first goal, but the midfield lacked the magic to create chances and score.

Forwards Francis Abubakar, Ibrahim Muhammad, Samson Lawal, Haliru Sarki, and Ahmed Abdullahi all missed their intended targets, and replacement and Belgian-based striker Ahmed Abdullahi watched agonizingly as his late-game penalty shot hit the left post and rebounded into play.

Ebou Dampha of the Gambia, who was named man of the match for his outstanding performance in goal for the Junior Scorpions, has played in five games of the tournament and has yet to allow a goal.

In the match, the Flying Eagles had 21 shots, four of which were on target, compared to the Gambia's three shots, one of which was used to score.

The team's performance infuriated the home crowd, and they vented their frustration on social media. While some believe the team won't fare well at the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, scheduled to begin on May 20 and go through June 11, others believe the team should be scrapped.

"This Flying Eagles squad should be disbanded, and that includes the coaching staff," Eddie Ekpo commented on Twitter. awful team all around. Are there no managers who can handle this team in the Nigerian Professional Football League? Must Ladan Bosso be packing the squad with people from the north?

This Flying Eagles team ought to be abolished, added Jumoke Josh-Falade @FaladeJumi. No strategies, pointless long balls, and an old coach!

Jamiyu Ganiyu opposes sending the team to Indonesia to compete in the World Cup.

"I'm hoping this isn't the World Cup team. I have never seen a U-20 team as bad and technically inept as the present group. The coach made no effort at all in his choice.

The Flying Eagle U-20 are not at all good, according to Gbolahan Philips. Instead of passing it about and maintaining possession, they are just kicking the balls. @thenff. Ladan Bosso has to deliver more than I anticipate. The NFF is okay. None of these guys have impressed me enough to make it onto the senior team. moreover, age palava. I'm in my thirties, yet these guys appear older than I am. I'm just upset with the boss in general. How is it possible to lose to the Gambia with an underage team? Nawa…”

Coach Bosso, insisted Damilola Adenusi, was not qualified to lead the team.

"Lasan Bosso is not a capable trainer. He hasn't had any effect on the group. Only luck allowed the present Flying Eagles to advance. They are below par.

"Lasan Bosso is a poor trainer. He has had no effect on the team. The present Flying Eagles are only fortunate to be eligible. They are of poor quality, and the coach is incapable of having an impact on technical and tactical understanding.

Due to this unfortunate outcome, the Flying Eagles will play Tunisia for third place on Friday, with the final taking place on Saturday. Senegal defeated Tunisia 3-0 in the other semifinal.
